Flu Vaccine Funding
The flu vaccine is free for:

• Adults aged 65 years and over;
• Pregnant people;
• Those with certain long-term health conditions:
  • Heart conditions
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney, Autoimmune and Chronic Respiratory diseases
  • Cancer
  • Chronic Mental Health disorders
• Children aged 6 to 12 years with the above medical conditions

For patients who do not meet the funded criteria, the cost of the flu vaccine is $30.

COVID-19 vaccinations will be available. These COVID vaccines are free and available for people aged 12 years and over. The COVID-19 vaccine can also be given at the same appointment as your flu vaccine if you wish.  

Pharmacies will only be allowed to dispense a maximum of 3-months of medications. The Medical Council of New Zealand (Te Kaunihera Rata o Aotearoa) recommends patient safety and safe prescribing, so these are our priorities while we update our safe prescribing policy to reflect the Government initiative. In practice, 12-month prescribing is not suitable for most patients.

After 1st February 2026, any initial request for a 12-month prescription will need to be in person during a dedicated GP consultation and will be carefully assessed by the clinician. All prescriptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account clinical and patient safety, current guidelines and policy, monitoring and individual patient needs.

• runny nose
• sore and watery ‘pink’ eyes.

Kaden will be open for new patients as well as assisting with Dr Shelley Louw’s patients.

Kaden will work 7 sessions per week  over Monday to Fridays.

From the 1st November The Christchurch Doctors will be charging for Nurse Advice

We have previously not charged for advice given by our Nurses, however due to the increasing demand on our Nursing team we have had to implement this fee.

Often the advice our nurses give is available free from Healthline on 0800 611 116. We are hoping the fees will reduce time spent on the phones and allow more time to provide quality clinical care.

Our nurses are still available to triage all urgent requests, and calls relating to children under the age of 14, however, if your call is deemed as non-urgent, there will be a fee for this.

Fees are below:

• CSC Holder: $15.00
• No CSC: $25.00
• Children aged 13 & under: No Charge

Diarmuid is interested in all aspects of general practice, but particularly men’s health, the dermatoscopic evaluation of skin lesions and management of musculoskeletal issues, including joint injections. 

Diarmuid will be working Monday to Thursday and is accepting new enrolments from within the Christchurch area.  

Health Improvement Practitioners are qualified health professionals, with experience in physical and mental health, who have completed specialist training in the Te Tumu Waiora (to head towards wellness) primary mental health model, there is NO CHARGE to see Sarah. 

Sarah is a registered health professional with previous experience in Mental Health, Early Intervention with families including behavioural challenges in children and supporting wellbeing holistically. She has worked collaboratively with people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities and believe in working together in partnership to produce the best possible outcomes. 

The HIP is part of the General Practice team and sees people of all ages and stages of life, who are experiencing health related problems that are impacting on daily function and wellbeing. The HIP can support you to make a behavioural change plan based on the issue that is most important to you at the time of being seen.

Some areas where a HIP can support are in the following:

• Stress, anxiety and depression
• Sleep problems
• Finding meaning and purpose
• Living with chronic health conditions
• Family violence
• Healthy relationships
• Behavioural challenges in children
• Healthy lifestyles
• Connecting with community/social services
• Family/whānau support

Enrolments
We now have 2 GPs that are currently accepting new enrolments. Dr Yi Gao is accepting patients that live or work within the 4 avenues, and Dr Diarmuid White is accepting patients that live within the Christchurch Area boundary.

Most patients attending the clinic can now enter the building, however masks are still mandatory when visiting a health care facility.  If you would like to wait in your car or have a mask exemption please advise reception.

We will still be checking for cold or flu symptoms – please advise when you book your appointment if you have any of these.

Enrolments
We are not currently accepting new enrolments.  Once we have another GP on site we will update this. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have flu clinics available to book into. Please book into these clinics online or call to make a normal nurse appointment if you wish to receive your flu vaccine.  The flu vaccine is free for those aged 65 and over, Māori or Pacific people aged 55 or over and for some other people if they qualify.

Fees for those who do not qualify for a funded vaccine are:

• $25 for anyone aged 14 or over
• $15 for anyone aged 13 or under

For those aged 65 years and over there are two vaccines available – the funded one or an unfunded alternative.

The unfunded vaccine contains an adjuvant that stimulates a stronger immune response to give the vaccine greater effectiveness.

The cost of this vaccine is $35 and you will need to phone and book this with the nurse.  03 366 3391.

If you’d like to book a flu vaccination for your child aged under 3, please phone us and discuss with the nurse as we need to order these in for you.

We do have limited covid swabs times for ENROLLED patients only, by appointment only.
